Strange Insect

In my aunt's garden, there wasn't this strange insect I couldn't quite identify. The plant it landed on was a Madagascar jasmine. It seems like either a moth or butterfly. You can find the photos on

Witness a strange insect in my garden yesterday. About 1 to 1-1/2 inches long, primarily brown, flying, two patterned wings, oblong body with fan type tail and two wide yellow stripes on lower portion of body, long nose that was being used to stick up my petunias. Hovered for a long time between flowers.
