• TYPE LOCALITY. "Ferab (Samarkand)" [Farob, Zeravshansky Mts., Tajikistan].
• RANGE. Confined to the mountains of Middle Asia (Ghissar-Darvaz).
• DISTRIBUTION AND VARIATION. Ghissar (Ghissarsky, Turkestansky, Zeravshansky, Baisun-Tau Mts.), N. Alai(?) ("Marghelan"), Darvaz (Peter 1 Mts.). Variation has been revealed in size and intensity of the white spots on UPS and UNS; geographical variation has not been studied due to insufficient material.
• HABITATS AND BIOLOGY. Flight in the mountains from 2,000 to 3,700 m a.s.l. in a single generation (July).
• SIMILAR SPECIES. M. kuenlunus: darker, FW less strongly pointed, UPS whitish suffusion fainter, white spots intensive, submarginal spots present on both sides.
